Who qualifies: Primary family caregivers of adults aged 60 and older. The program also serves grandparents and relative caregivers raising children. Services are prioritized for caregivers of the most frail and vulnerable care recipients and for caregivers with the greatest economic and social need.

No cost to the caregiver. Alabama Cares services are funded through federal Older Americans Act dollars and state matching funds. Some services may involve a suggested voluntary contribution based on income, but no one is denied services for inability to pay.
